summary

After years of showcasing for many area groups, doing session work and concucting clinics, Brendan now focuses on solo bass performances.

Brendan's solo performances highlight his own signature bass sound. Much like a piano player uses fingers from both hands on the piano keys, Brendan uses fingers from both hands on top of the finger/fretboard to play melody, chords and bass line accompaniment at the same time.

"The tecnhique is a little unusual, and can be visually engaging, but my aim is not to impress anyone with the technique, or how the music is made. My biggest thrill comes when people are moved, (myself included) with the music that comes out. It's not something I can plan or explain, but something I make myself available for."

A purist at heart, Brendan avoids any effects, and currently plays entirely in the NLZ (No-Loop-Zone).

From 1998 through 2006, Brendan's performed an average of 100 - 150 solo shows a year.

"For a bass soloist, I think that's a lot. If there was a tax for taking a bass solo, I'd owe some agency a ton of dough."
